I can’t believe that in these times, people still do everything they can to prevent others from exercising their basic rights. I would like to know how they consider equality to be a threat to their rights ?
To be very clear : I am a firm believer that who wants the same rights also has to have the same obligations.
Now as far as I can see, gays fulfill the same obligations as straight people : they pay taxes, rent, loans, hospital bills, they pay for social security, etc. So a big “yay” for equality here !
Sadly enough, the passing of this bill proves that the equality also ends here and apparently only applies when it comes to the obligations.
Personally, I don’t see why people who don’t have the same legal rights, should have the same legal obligations. Or : if people who voted “yes” on prop 8 don’t consider gay people as their equals when it comes to rights, they shouldn’t expect them to be equal when it comes to obligations either.
This proposition is a despicable example of double standards.
The people who voted yes want to have the best of both worlds, they want to have their cake and eat it too.
Well, I say its time to pull a Noël Godin on them !
Here are some thoughts and reactions from across the ocean, the land that likes to be know as “the land of the free” – thanx to Perez !
Now here’s how the “yes-voters” ran their campagne :
